The flies in the truck cab share this quiet moment

1.

EXT. STREET - NIGHT

Raquel and Francis finish up painting the rooftop with their spray cans.

RAQUEL

you know how Frankenstein has the same suffix STEIN like Weinstein?

FRANCIS

Traits they share. Victims.

RAQUEL

patients, um, body alterations, COSMETIC SURGERY.

They laugh at their own dark jokes as they walk to the VAN.

MATCH CUT TO:

INT. MOLLY'S CAR - CONTINOUS

Deadpan expression of how tired MOLLY has become stalking these two.

MOLLY

(BRAHMEN)

Om.

EXT. HIGHWAY - NIGHT

The highway is gridlocked and frozen. RAQUEL AND FRANCIS are just coming to a full stop. FRANCIS checks his blind spot maniacally as if he could sneak a lane change last minute without hitting anyone.

FRANCIS

Oh no. No. No, no, no.

INT. VAN - NIGHT

Francis and Raquel find themselves stuck in their car without access to an exit ramp.

FRANCIS

Hey, baby. Do you have anymore of those joints?

RAQUEL

Hey, I think it's illegal to be smoking while driving

2.

FRANCIS

This isn't driving. Please. I gotta take my mind off of… Aw, baby, I needs a toilet.

Raquel looks around suspiciously and produces a SATIVA joint.

MOMENTS LATER

After only a few hits, it becomes obvious that Raquel and Francis have reached the apex of their high.

RAQUEL

… save that for later

Checking to see if the joint is out by taking one last hit, she begins to pack it up in a little plastic tube.

RAQUEL

Roll up your windows and be on the lookout for cops.

FRANCIS

I'm gonna have to do it outside.

RAQUEL

How?!! No!

Raquel being paranoid looks out her window, the rear window, her blind spot, etc.

RAQUEL (CONT'D)

There's people everywhere.

A trucker looks out his window to see Raquel sticking her head out of the car. He also catches a whiff of the marijuana joint they've been smoking.

TRUCKER

Hey! Got anymore of that?

FRANCIS

What?

Raquel ducks back into the car. Francis tries to look out the window on Raquel's side, but he doesn't see the trucker from his vantage point. He lowers his window and sticks half his body out to see outside.

The trucker opens his door to get out of his truck.

FRANCIS

Hey good buddy. What's the word on this gridlock

3.

TRUCKER

It goes up about two miles. We aren't going nowhere. Got some weed?

FRANCIS

Is there a port-a-potty nearby?

The trucker invites Francis to his port-a-potty.

MOMENTS LATER

INT/EXT. SEMI TRUCK - HIGHWAY - CONTINUOUS

Francis sits in the drivers seat as the TRUCKER searches for any last minute instructions that might come to mind.

Trucker shuts the door and gives Francis his privacy.

TRUCKER

Alright, brother. She's all yours. After all, what's more imnportant…

>CUT TO:

EXT. HIGHWAY - CONTINUOUS

TRUCKER

Hey brother, can I get a hit of that!? Oh, sister.

RAQUEL

Hey, where's Francis.

TRUCKER

He'll be out soon. He's using the toilet-in-the-cab.

Raquel produces the roach she saved earlier

RAQUEL

Nope, more like a sampler. You know, my girlfriend use to roll these massive joints

TRUCKER

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about.

The trucker climbs into the van.

>CUT TO:

4.

INT. VAN - CONTINUOUS

TRUCKER

Oh God. What a day.

Raquel watches the trucker enjoy the joint.

RAQUEL

What do your walkie-talkie buddies say is going on with this traffic?

TRUCKER

It's a complete closure. Crime scene is my guess.

RAQUEL

Yeah, so… was saying. Jennifer. Stahl. Her name was going to make headlines.

TRUCKER

Yeah, you were saying. What's your name?

RAQUEL

Me. I'm Elle.

TRUCKER

Jack

RAQUEL

Should I bore you with the story? It's a double murder.

Trucker becomes intrigued.
