I remember discovering a song meaning website after googling the title of one of my favorite songs. I arrived at songmeanings dot com because my google search included the question of what the hell do these song lyrics mean? I've used the site a number of times since then, but usually for titles that have come and gone. I can't stand it when a new song is out on the airwaves, contain puzzling lyrics, and I can't find insight to it. I try to stop myself from being a doofus and grooving to new songs if I don't know anything about it.
What I mean is, I try to carefully select songs I'm going to like becuz I first want to understanding the lyrics. I don't want to be walking around like the Bee Gees singing Staying alive when I don't even know what the song is about. Do you remember that music video? All three Bee Gees members walking down the street harmonizing the lyrics "ah-ah-ah-ah staying alive" as if nobody was watching. That was me in the 70's. Too dumb to know I didn't like disco and naively singing in the back of my head as if at that age I had a major concern over staying alive.
New songs, I concluded, needed more time before members of songmeanings dot com could log themselves onto the site and contribute their opinions. However, when I tried to create my own account so that I might share my own insights, the server wasn't having it. Was it my browser? After all, half of the post/send page for filling in user name and email addresses is cropped; so I can't figure out if the reason I cannot create an account is because my password doesn't meet requirements of one Capital letter, one lower case letter, one number and one special character. OMG! what has the world come to? In my day a password could consist of four letter words. Down with songmeanings dot com.
I shall continue pretending that the lyrics to the songs I like are about me, and the words to the song And we run, by Withing temptation "and we run…" mean what they sound like. "Henry, run."
