Next year will be the last year of the Aztec calendar system

It feels like something should be done in appreciation to the calendar system as we know it. Although our calendar system has never adapted the Aztec one, it seems the similarities lay in the manner which scholars have evaluated it's accuracy. The Aztec way of calculating time was better than the Gregorian calendar we use today, if you consider the way the migration between changing systems from Julian calendar to Gregorian back in the 1700's robbed people and businesses of eleven days.

I always held that calendars are fascinating myself. I owned a telephone back in the 80'a that contain small little business size cards containing calendars that could be re-used depending on the year and the size of the month. When I saw this article on changing the calendar system, that's the first thing I thought about. You can see my previous posts on the subject by browsing the tag " calendar " in this blog.

I've always believed that if the calendar were to ever be altered, an additional weekend should be added. We can call that day Ophday, a play on words for the new constellation astrologers are calling the 13th zodiac sign, ophiuchus. Whatever is decided, I hope business minded people are left out of the decision making process, a there's no doubt in my mind that they would vote to add another weekday.
