Where will GWTDT play in its limited U.S. premier?

my.yahoo is one of the search engines I use frequently for determining when and where I’ll be when I’m in the mood for a movie. I’ve been watchful these past couple weeks for commercial teasers contain upcoming movies that will start Friday 19 March 2010. That’s the day The girl with the dragon tattoo will be released. See here, for a link of theaters that are scheduling showings of this movie beginning next week. Yahoo only had enough information on this foreign film to indicate that it will be a limited release.

I then started to search for theaters that I’ve visited in the past to watch small budget, independent, limited release movies. That wasn’t helpful at all since not many theaters will allow their Internet audience to look in advance for possible titles scheduled to open on a later date. What’s the information age for, if you can’t do something as simple as to inquire about upcoming movies? I gave up on that quickly enough for googling the title with the keyword string girlwiththedragontattoo hoping that google would find a dedicated website for the movie the way other big budget films attempt to advertise to film enthusiasts. What I found was an on-line contest  and, alas, a list of locations containing theaters running this film: Florida, Texas, Illinois, Maryland, Maine, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Virginia and Washington. All these states, including Cali, will have theaters showing this film.

In California, Pasadena, Los Angeles, Encino are cities I would consider driving out to for my movie fix. And I was right in suspecting that Laemmles theatre would be showing this flick. I have to work that Friday, but I’ll have the entire weekend to myself. Ironic that the official U.S. website for this suspense thriller would harbor a treasure hunt theme because the only reason I’m so anxious to see this film is because I'm curious about the character which the author describes in the book as “She of TV4” and I’m hoping this is a clue to my quest to distinguish a news reporter from an old friend I used to know.

The first blog I stumbled upon contained a clue. For some unknown reason, each blog that I find a movie review of this film seems to contain a clue. The original clue is given at the site where the contest begins, www.dragontattoofilm.com

Ink is permanent, but is the art of tattooing vanishing? Vince Hemingson went on a global odyssey in search of the last authentic tattoos.

Work it! If you’re a working mom like blogger Aliza Sherman, this is the site to visit for community, advice and the occasional film review (cough, cough) from a mom’s perspective, in this case an Entrepreneur Mom.

When it comes to being a blogger, this guy’s a pro. His last name rhymes with mouse - even though it’s spelled Rowse (and even though he’s more like a lion or a tiger.)

The subjects are copy & blogging and the lessons are often pulled from pop culture - Sex and the City, Eminem and Inigo Montoya - for instance. Brian Clark, this blog’s creator, is also co-founder of Thesis and The Third Tribe.

No 9 to 5’ing for this guy. Just like Lisbeth and Mikael, this renegade, Jonathan Fields, made his own way (he even wrote a book about it) and he helps people find the career that lets them do what they love to do.

After fantasizing about her husband’s funeral, this blogger decided she was going to fix her marriage no matter what. Her ‘project’ is to find her fairy-tale ending with humor, raw honest, karma and a lot of rolling around in the hay. See for yourself if she’s living Happily Ever After.

Rachel Bilson & Christina Ricci are celebrity supporters of this national network that fights violence against women. Their strong volunteer program just goes to show that when kindness RAINNS, it pours.

Before Ellen (B.E.) and her television character both came out as lesbians in 1997, the landscape of mainstream movies, music and TV was bleak and empty. After she came out, the landscape changed and this site is the place to go for the ever-growing lesbian and bisexual news and entertainment...A.E

This site explores everything Apple, but don’t tell Steve Jobs because this weblog is officially unofficial.

In The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Lisbeth is surely one of the Smart Bitches and according to this blog’s founder, Sarah (the orginal SB), smart bitches still like to indulge in a little fun now and again — especially when it comes to Trashy Books.
It seems that one clue leads to the blog entry of a review to an advanced screening, which in turn contains a clue directing the reader to a different blog containing similar entries. Kind of like a webring network.
