Pot smoke burns movie by Patrick Goldstein, Los Angeles Times' The big picture, Saturday 12 December, 2009
MPAA wants more death, murder, blood to be depicted alongside pot smoking. It's like the lyrics say, in the new SLAYER album World painted blood, death, murder, plague, war, hate… and the list goes on. The MPAA rates movies by how morally they approach drug use. So, if by smoking cannabis, the pot head finds himself in dire straits, the film gets a PG13 rating. That is to say, the pot head gets brain cancer, or dies in a traffic accident, is caught in the middle of a gang dispute, etc. If nothing like that is depicted as a direct result of smoking pot, then the film earns an R rating.
PG makes a good pot point
