L.A.`s own reality soap opera

A trusted voice in latino media finds her career on hold

by Duke Helfand, MJ LATimes, July 21, 2007 §A1

Last weeks time's article on the the unethical behavior of news reporter Mirthala Salinas has curious minds wondering whether she will keep her job with Telemundo, or what. I searched everywhere for results to this cliff hanger as the L.A. Times news story above indicated Monday would produce a decision by Telemundo boardmemebers. The closest thing I came to was an update.

I think it's sad. People, like myself, use others' misfortunes to make their own day seem less hellish. I found an audio clip of a commentary on the sexual scandal at It's the 5 o`clock hour. Do you know what you're children watching? I'm sure the news networks aren't going to get around to covering any bad news about the termination of Salinas until 11:00 tonight, if at all. I agree with people who support Antonio's behavior as irrelevant to his performance in his job. It's nobody's business what his marital/love situation is, and the actions of the news reporter should be equally respected by her employers. For god's sake, since when is anybody reprimanded for having a fling? I swear to God, if Salinas is disciplined, I'm going to want to hear details about how it is she used her body to cut corners, making her job a breeze. The way I see it, elected officials cater to the people. If the people kill their neighbors, then a politician kills; if people molest their children, then politicians molest children and if the majority of marriages are open to promiscuity, then politicians will sleep around. Is there a flaw in the voting system or not? That's the way I look at government politics in this country.
